A Heart’s Cry (Part 1)

Sometimes we long for things in life so deeply and so passionately we forget to appreciate where God has us. Whether it’s an elusive future husband, a dream for a full house, or something material that we’ve waited for, we often miss God’s purpose for the now.

So in 2017, we’re starting off a series called “A Heart’s Cry”. Our greatest need in life is intimacy with the Savior. Everything else will ultimately fall short, even if we acquire it. So if you’re looking for contentment this year, join us these next four weeks.

“The Lord your God is in your midst,
A victorious warrior.
He will exult over you with joy,
He will be quiet in His love,
He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.”

Zephaniah 3:17

Our God is an intimate Savior. He doesn’t wish distance between us and Him. We have a choice in 2017–prioritize God as first and foremost in our lives or continue to seek that which will never satisfy.

“Therefore the Samaritan woman said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask me for a drink since I am a Samaritan woman?” (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.) Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”

John 4:9-10

Later in this passage, Jesus tells the woman the type of water He offers will keep her from thirsting. We thirst for so much. Why not give our deepest longings to God, and let Him satisfy our hearts?
