The Joy Remedy (Part 1)

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

Romans 12:12

Joy, do you possess it or is it fleeting?

For many of us, our joy comes and goes with our surrounding life experiences; thus, if it’s Monday, you better believe, I don’t have much joy…

Maybe on my day off or maybe on Friday. It’s funny, however, the Bible doesn’t call us to occasional joy. Joy is to be something we receive when we become Christians, a “fruit of the spirit”.

So if I’m truly a Christian, why do I struggle with it?

Over the next few weeks, we’re focusing on this subject and how to conquer our daily struggle.

Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.

John 15:9-11

How do we have joy?–By abiding in Christ. This means, we obey and follow God’s commands. When we do so, joy develops in our lives. So if you’re struggling with joy, first examine yourself. Are you obeying God?

In the weeks to come, we’ll examine several other joy antidotes. I think we all have room to grow in this area, so keep joining us for The Joy Remedy.
