About the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
Matthew 27:46
Jesus spoke these words as He hung on the cross for us. The Father had left His side. Can you imagine? The sheer loneliness of such a moment.
Thankfully, because Jesus experienced this, we never have to live through such loneliness. Jesus’s death offered a way for us to be right with the Father.
At birth, Jesus was called Immanuel–God with us.
At death, Jesus provided a permanent way for God to remain with us forever.
So whatever you walk through, you don’t have to walk through it alone. We so often feel like no one understands. God not only grasps our struggles, but He promises to stay with us within the storm.
When you feel lonely, Jesus experienced the greatest loneliness one could ever endure. He understands, yet He doesn’t desire that feeling for us. Not sure if you have a relationship with God, click here to learn more.
Don’t live life alone. God intends for us to live with Him at our side…
I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.
John 14:16-17
Amen! This is so important to remember in every situation.
