Tuesday's Thought

Alone (Part 1)

This week, we’re kicking off a brand new series titled, “Alone”. Our lives often feel like we journey by ourselves, but as Christians, we have someone beside us even in difficulty. May this series encourage you to seek comfort in Him alone…

Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
and before you were born I consecrated you;
I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.” But the Lord said to me,

“Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’;
for to all to whom I send you, you shall go,
and whatever I command you, you shall speak.
Do not be afraid of them,
for I am with you to deliver you,
declares the Lord.”

Jeremiah 1:4-8

I love these verses that start off Jeremiah. Have you ever had a responsibility you felt completely inadequate for?

Me too. It happens to us all. At work, at home with that new baby, at school…we often find ourselves in places we weren’t ready to endeavor. But I love what God says to Jeremiah, “I am with you to deliver you.” Jeremiah’s lack of readiness did not deter God. Regardless of his youth, God promised to be with him.

We also have such a promise.

 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:19-20

So whether life in this moment is smooth or full of trouble, rely on Him who promises to be at your side. Adequacy is not dependent upon you. Rest in that thought, my friends. For as life gets busy and troubles come our way, we have a sovereign God living in us. If this realization seems new, check out The Greatest Story to learn more.

May you go through this week with confidence, knowing He cares about the troubles that arise in our lives. We worship a God who sympathizes with our weaknesses and stays beside us in our shortcomings.

  1. Thank you, I enjoyed reading this. I have been a lot in my life so far but the Lord has always been there for me, sometimes in miraculous ways. Have a good day.
