Last year, my husband and I transitioned. We left Georgia, our first home, and jobs. Nelson went ahead and began work. I joined him weeks later. A month or two after moving, we made a big decision for me to pursue writing full-time. We lived with my parents for 5 months. Eventually, we bought a foreclosure. In the first month, we worked on lots of projects to attempt completion of the house. I say all that to tell you 2015 was busy, exciting, and at times–hard.
Ironically, we haven’t completed our journey. We’re still working on the “essential” house projects. I’m still venturing deeper into the world of publishing, and neither of us have had the time to fully settle.
I feel like we sometimes live the journey of a modern novel. If it wasn’t for someone writing and guiding our story, we’d have no real purpose. Just as New Year’s resolutions are often fruitless, so would the passing of another year be.
Thankfully, there is a writer. He doesn’t promise to write a novel with perfect characters, who live perfect lives. He doesn’t always leave the chapters with neat endings, but along the way, I know His hook guides the story. For He’s written himself into the book. Since He’s the author, He continues to write the story from its pages. So I don’t know where He’ll take this life, but I know He’s a great writer. I trust His version of the story.
Philippians 1:6
For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
To your 2016, may you let Him write your story!
