Sweet Tea and the Finer Things of Life

Summer is flying by this year.  Between the wedding, dog training for the puppy, my book, and regular life, it feels like I’ve barely had enough time to dedicate to each.  Still, summer is a wonderful thing! With it comes watermelon, warm sunshine, swimming, corn on the cob, the grill, fresh cut grass, ….oh, and that unforgettable taste of sweet tea.

This summer, as the days rush by, I’ve come to realize how content and joyful I should be each day.  It doesn’t matter what is going on.  God has given me so much, and I should be thankful.

Slow down a bit this summer.  Enjoy the warm sunshine and take a deep breath as the breeze blows across your face.  In that moment, consider what you have to be thankful for.  God is probably working in your life in ways you would never believe.  If you’re a Christian, check out the book of Habukkuk.  God tells Habukkuk He is doing something.  It isn’t what Habukkuk deems to be ideal, but God had the better plan.  Sometimes we must trust God and be content where He has us.

Shout out to a little girl named Tessa.  She is waiting for a family.  Please pray for her or choose another waiting child to pray for, as they wait for their family to find them.

  1. I like it when you said that God has given you much. I, as an orphan for about more than 20 years now, I could say that God has provided me everything I need to live a purposeful life. Thank you for this reflection. It reminds us to be content and joyful with what we already have… 🙂
