It’s one of those things you see just about everywhere. From sports figures to shopping bags, to fast food cups…no seriously, look it up…John 3:16 is written on anything and everything. Why?
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
Yesterday I heard a message about the first part–you know, the part about God loving the world. It was really interesting. How has God loved the world? Try to name all the ways. Sit down and make a list. The speaker mentioned several examples in the OT of God’s mercy and even God’s discipline. Kind of like a good parent. God shows mercy at times when He has the right to discipline us, yet sometimes God does discipline us out of love–it’s good for us. Kind of a crazy concept, but it makes sense. Google these verses about God: 1 John 4:8, Romans 8:28, Jeremiah 29:11.
If you think about it, it’s incredible that a God who created us loves us, especially when we fail Him. We owe Him everything. Our allegiance should be entirely to Him. He is our Creator, but we fail to understand His greatness. And because we fail to understand His greatness, we can’t even comprehend the extent of His love.
How has God loved you? Leave related verses, comments, and questions…I’d enjoy hearing from you.
Shout out today to a waiting child named Brent. Brent is one of the children I’ve watched grow up as he’s waited for a family. I thought about him and several others when I wrote “Somebody Should’ve Loved that Child”. Please pray for him and check out his profile. The picture below is of him several years ago. An updated picture is on his profile, as well as more information about him. Thanks!
